What are the dates of the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022?

The Games go from Friday, June 17th, 2022 till Saturday, June 25th, 2022.

The opening ceremony for the Mini Games will be held on the evening of Friday, June 17th, 2022. 

Where will the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 take place?

They will take place on the islands of Saipan, Rota, and Tinian, in the Northern Marianas.

This means that events will take place on Chamorro Standard Time (UTC+10). 

What sports are on the program for the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022?

There are a total of 9 sporting events on the program for the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022: 

Athletics – (Track and Field Events)

Badminton

When does the Athlete’s Village open and close?

The Games Village will officially open 5 days before the Opening Ceremonies and will close 3 days after the Closing Ceremonies. Special accommodations can be made to accommodate flight arrival and departure schedules.

What is the per diem rate for Athletes and Team Officials for the Games?

In 2014, when the NMI bid to host the XI Pacific Mini Games, we proposed a flat fee of USD$450.00 for per diem per registered athlete and official, no matter the duration of their stay in the NMI.
Paying a flat rate per diem/per person, will make the Delegation Registration Process (DRP) much easier.

Are there any direct flights into the NMI?

Pre-COVID, there were directly flights from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Guam. Currently, the only direct commercial flights into the NMI, are from Guam. Other direct flights are chartered flights.

Are there border entry restrictions into the NMI?

Yes, there are border entry restrictions into the NMI. The NMI is a U.S. Territory and abides by the border entry requirement set forth by the US Government.

Currently the Games Organizing Committee is working with both the NMI Government and the United States Olympic Committee to negotiate with the US Customs and Immigration Services to put in place a special waiver or process for Athletes and Officials participating at the Mini Games. Currently, only 7 countries require visas to enter the NMI, a United States Territory. The GOC will update all PGA’s when progress is made.

What is the official currency and accepted methods of payments in the NMI?

The NMI’s official currency is the United States Dollar ($). All major credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted in the NMI.

What is the power voltage and what kind of power outlets?

Type A and Type B power sockets/outlets are used in the NMI, the same as in the United States. The standard voltage is 120V and the standard frequency is 60Hz

Climate of the Northern Mariana Islands

The Northern Mariana Islands have a tropical marine climate moderated by seasonal northeast trade winds from November to March and easterly winds from May to October. Average year-round temperature is 84° F (28.9 °C) with an average humidity of 79%. There is little seasonal temperature variation.
