Baseball has not appeared on the Pacific Games sports program since the 2011 edition in New Caledonia when the Northern Mariana Islands won the gold medal. The host nation will surely be hoping for a repeat performance when Baseball returns in 2022. It most recently appeared at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau back in 2005 when Guam won the event undefeated. Guam also won gold at the 2003 Pacific Games in Fiji, whilst Palau won gold at the 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa, demonstrating that the northern Pacific has a stronghold on this sport.
