March 30, 2022– Today NMI House Representatives we apprised of the NMI Pacific Mini Games 2022 progress in the NMSA Conference Room. NMI Representatives Christina Sablan, Leila Staffler, Sheila J. Babauta, Corina Magofna, John Paul Sablan, Joel C. Camacho, and Richard T. Lizama were in attendance as NMI PMG Chairman Marco Peter and CEO Ben Babauta provided updates on the largest event to ever take place in the NMI.
Also attending the briefing were NMPMG2022 Organizing Committee members Ray Tebuteb, Jack Sablan, and Nick Gross to answer any questions on the progress and updates.
Chair Peter welcomed the Representatives and provided updates on workforce and venue refurbishments for the NMIPMG2022. “We have two separate teams simultaneously working on the baseball field to make sure it gets done in time and we also broke ground last week, clearing the land behind the track to add another parking lot,” said Chairman Peter.
CEO Babauta presented an overview of the games which included a history of NMI’s hosting journey and reported the NMIPMG Organizing Committee’s planning preparation and implementation progress, and the plans moving ahead.
“I want to thank the NMI Representatives who attended this briefing and I’m pleased the NMPMG2022 has received support from our legislative body,” said CEO Babauta.
CEO Babauta urged NMI House Representatives to work directly with NMPMG Marketing and Communications team to establish the Adopt-A-Nation program. The program allows for a village to adopt a different participating country. The PMG is the perfect opportunity for our NMI people to learn about of the different cultures and customs of participating countries while bonding over a shared Olympic spirit,’ stated CEO Babauta.
